PUBLIC NOTICE - Town of Wytheville Hunting Permit Applications – Sand Mountain Property


The Town of Wytheville is now accepting applications for permits to hunt on Town-owned land located on Sand Mountain. Applicants must be residents of Wythe County. Applications are available exclusively through the Town’s OpenGov online permitting system, which can be accessed through the Town’s website at www.wytheville.org.

The application fee is $25.00. The Wytheville Town Council has authorized the issuance of a maximum of 50 hunting permits for the Town-owned property on Sand Mountain. Hunting permits issued under this program will expire on August 31, 2027. If more than 50 eligible applications are received, permit holders will be selected through a lottery process.

The deadline for submitting an application is 5:00 p.m. on Friday, July 31, 2026. Permits will be issued as soon as practical following the application review and lottery process, if necessary. Individuals who need assistance completing an online hunting permit application may contact the Town of Wytheville at (276) 223-3353.

The hunting permit program is administered by Town staff in accordance with the terms and conditions established and enforced by the Town of Wytheville and the Virginia Department of Wildlife Resources (formerly the Department of Game and Inland Fisheries (DGIF). TRAFFIC ALERT!


Beginning Monday, June 22, 2026, the inside lanes and center turn lane on E. Main Street in the area of 1015 E. Main Street (Hardee's) will be closed for the construction of a crosswalk. The closure is expected to remain in place for approximately three days.
 
Access to VA-365 at the entrance to Wytheville Community College will remain open during this time.
 
Motorists are encouraged to use caution, expect delays, and plan for additional travel time when traveling through the area.

Holiday Refuse Collection


Due to the Independence Day holiday, the refuse collection in the Town of Wytheville for Friday, July 3, 2026, will be Held on Monday, July 6, 2026. The normal collection scheduled for Monday, July 6, 2026, will be Held on that day. 

The Town of Wytheville’s Recycling Center located at 1025 South Third Street will not have an attendant on duty beginning Friday, July 3, 2026, through Sunday, July 5, 2026, due to the Independence Day holiday. The attendant will return to assist citizens on Monday, July 6, 2026. Please note that when an attendant is not on duty, the Recycling Center's gates are closed, and items cannot be dropped off. 

PUBLIC HEARING NOTICE


NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Wytheville Town Council of the Town of Wytheville, Virginia, will conduct a Public Hearing at 6:00 p.m., or as soon thereafter as possible, on Monday, June 22, 2026, in the Council Chambers of the Municipal Building, 150 East Monroe Street, Wytheville, Virginia.

The purpose of the Public Hearing is to consider appropriations to the Fiscal Year 2025-2026 Budget in order to amend departmental budgets due to unexpected expenditures incurred during the fiscal year.

Copies of the proposed budget amendments are available for public inspection in the Treasurer’s Office of the Municipal Building, 150 East Monroe Street, Wytheville, Virginia, Monday through Friday, between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., except legal holidays.

Citizens are encouraged to attend the Public Hearing to express their views. Comments may also be submitted by regular mail, by telephone at (276) 223-3333, or by emailing Town Treasurer Angela Pennington at angelap@wytheville.org.

Individuals requiring special accommodation to attend the meeting are requested to contact Town Clerk Brandi Jones at least two (2) days prior to the meeting by calling (276) 223-3349.

PUBLIC HEARING NOTICE


NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Wytheville Town Council of the Town of Wytheville, Virginia, will conduct a Public Hearing on Monday, June 22, 2026, at 6:00 p.m., or as soon thereafter as possible, in the Council Chambers of the Municipal Building, 150 East Monroe Street, Wytheville, Virginia.

The purpose of the Public Hearing is to receive citizen comments regarding a request made by ARGMOS LLC, owner of the property located at 1035 North 4th Street, Wytheville, Virginia 24382, to consider the conveyance of a Temporary Construction Easement and a Permanent Drainage and Maintenance Easement over and across property owned by the Town of Wytheville lying directly west and to the rear of the property located at 1035 North 4th Street, Wytheville, Virginia 24382.

Copies of the proposed easement documents are available for public inspection at the Municipal Building, 150 East Monroe Street, Wytheville, Virginia, Monday through Friday, between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., except legal holidays.

Citizens are encouraged to attend the Public Hearing to express their views. Comments may also be submitted by regular mail, by telephone at (276) 223-3342, or by email to Billy Anderson, Director of Public Utilities and Engineering, at billy.anderson@wytheville.org.

DETOUR: ROUTE 11 AND WEST MONROE STREET REALIGNMENT


UPDATE: Per VDOT notification, the DETOUR will begin on June 11, 2026.
