Town of Wytheville - 12 Inch Break


FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Water Main Break on North 4th Street December 9, 2025; 12:15 p.m. The Town of Wytheville is currently responding to a break in a 12-inch main water line on North 4th Street. Town Crews are on-site and working to complete repairs as quickly and safely as possible. At this time, the duration of the water outage has not yet been determined. Residents and businesses located along North 4th Street are expected to be affected by this interruption in service. Drivers are advised to use alternate routes and to use caution when traveling in the area where crews are working. Road surfaces may be wet, and icy conditions could develop. Please use caution when traveling. The Town apologizes for the inconvenience and appreciates the cooperation and understanding of our citizens as repairs are completed. We will provide updates as more information becomes available.

The 2025 Personal Property and Real Estate tax tickets have been mailed and are due on March 5, 2026. Tax bills must be paid in full by this date to avoid penalty and interest charges.

Real Estate bills, if applicable, are coded for ESCROW/MORTGAGE companies. If your bill is coded to be paid by your escrow/mortgage company, please do not pay the bill. You receive a copy of the bill as a courtesy.

Please contact the Commissioner of the Revenue’s office at 276-223-6015 to have errors on the tax tickets resolved. The Commissioner of the Revenue’s office is responsible for the data on your bill(s) including the assessment, applicable tax and mailing address.

PAYMENT OPTIONS - In person, by mail, online at www.wytheville.org/online-payments, by phone, or by utilizing the drop box located at the front of the Municipal Building. Mailed payments postmarked no later than March 5, 2026, will be honored as on time payments and not charged penalty and interest.

Christmas Refuse Pick Up


Due to the Christmas holiday, the refuse collection in the Town of Wytheville for Wednesday, December 24; Thursday, December 25; and, Friday, December 26, 2025, will be held on Monday, December 29, 2025. The normal collection scheduled for Monday, December 29, 2025, will be held on that day. 

The Town of Wytheville’s Recycling Center located at 1025 South Third Street will not have an attendant on duty Wednesday, December 24, 2025, through Friday, December 26, 2025, due to the Christmas holiday. The attendant will return to assist citizens on Monday, December 29, 2025. Please note that when an attendant is not on duty, the Recycling Center's gates are closed, and items cannot be dropped off. 

 

Christmas Tree Pick Up


The Town of Wytheville will pick up brush during the week of December 29, 2025, through January 2, 2026, on their regularly scheduled collection. During this brush collection week, the Town will pick up Christmas trees along with regular brush as a part of this scheduled event. Residents should place their Christmas tree along the street in front of their property but out of street right of way. The Town appreciates the residents' cooperation during this event.  If you should have any questions, please call 276-223-3363.

Parks and Recreation Inclement Weather Policy

In the event of inclement weather the facility operating hours at the Wytheville Community Center may be modified to open at a later time or close early. If this were to occur all participants registered for programs or facility rentals will be notified as soon as possible. 

Athletics participants will be notified through their coaches alerting if there is a change in game schedule, locations or cancellations. Coaches will typically post to their designated Band app groups in this event. 

Afterschool Kidventures program participants and their parents will be notified as soon as possible if there are changes in hours of operations either due to a facility or school closure. Notifications will be sent through the designated Band app with these changes.
