Martin Luther King, Jr. Day Refuse Collection


Due to the Martin Luther King, Jr. Day holiday, the refuse collection in the Town of Wytheville for Monday, January 19, 2026, will be Held on Tuesday, January 20, 2026. The normal collection scheduled for Tuesday, January 20, 2026, will be held on that day. 

The Town of Wytheville’s Recycling Center located at 1025 South Third Street will not have an attendant on duty Monday, January 19, 2026, due to the Martin Luther King, Jr. Day holiday. The attendant will return to assist citizens on Tuesday, January 20, 2026. Please note that when an attendant is not on duty, the Recycling Center's gates are closed, and items cannot be dropped off.  

20th Street Bridge Open to Through Traffic


The Town is excited to announce that the 20th Street Bridge is now open to through traffic!  After an extensive renovation and repair, in cooperation with Norfolk & Southern, the 20th Street Bridge Project has been completed.

Please be aware of the following restrictions for this bridge, so that we may all enjoy its convenience for many years into the future:

  • One Lane Bridge only
  • 9-foot height restriction
  • 10 Ton weight restriction

The 2025 Personal Property and Real Estate tax tickets have been mailed and are due on March 5, 2026. Tax bills must be paid in full by this date to avoid penalty and interest charges.

Real Estate bills, if applicable, are coded for ESCROW/MORTGAGE companies. If your bill is coded to be paid by your escrow/mortgage company, please do not pay the bill. You receive a copy of the bill as a courtesy.

Please contact the Commissioner of the Revenue’s office at 276-223-6015 to have errors on the tax tickets resolved. The Commissioner of the Revenue’s office is responsible for the data on your bill(s) including the assessment, applicable tax and mailing address.

PAYMENT OPTIONS - In person, by mail, online at www.wytheville.org/online-payments, by phone, or by utilizing the drop box located at the front of the Municipal Building. Mailed payments postmarked no later than March 5, 2026, will be honored as on time payments and not charged penalty and interest.

Parks and Recreation Inclement Weather Policy

In the event of inclement weather the facility operating hours at the Wytheville Community Center may be modified to open at a later time or close early. If this were to occur all participants registered for programs or facility rentals will be notified as soon as possible. 

Athletics participants will be notified through their coaches alerting if there is a change in game schedule, locations or cancellations. Coaches will typically post to their designated Band app groups in this event. 

Afterschool Kidventures program participants and their parents will be notified as soon as possible if there are changes in hours of operations either due to a facility or school closure. Notifications will be sent through the designated Band app with these changes.
