STATEMENT REGARDING DISPOSAL OF MATERIALS IN WASTEWATER COLLECTION SYSTEM:

Posted on 20th Mar 2020 14:06:21 in Town Office All

With toilet paper being scarce, the Town of Wytheville would request that residents refrain from flushing anything else down the sewer pipes other than toilet paper. Wipes, paper towels, napkins, and facial tissues do not disintegrate quickly and could cause issues with blockage in the sewer lines.

These items should be placed in the trash and properly disposed of. Even the flushable wipes do not break down quickly and could cause blockages in the lines. The use of these items can also cause serious issues in the Wastewater Treatment Plant process. Thank you for cooperation by not flushing this material into the sewer collection system.

If you have any questions concerning this, please contact the Town Wastewater Treatment Plant at 276-223-3326 or the Engineering Department at 276-223-3342.
